In the Barlach bequest in Güstrow a pencil sketch is left, dated 1906, from some Russian pocket notebook. The gradual development of motif led him to expressive works, Seated Woman and Concerned Woman. This last work, done in wood, is now in Hamburg (E. Barlach House). The Zagreb specimen is the original of it.
